SPIRITUALITY & POLITICS

Eric Martindale • October 7, 2018

SPIRITUALITY & POLITICS Is politics relevant? Isn’t it true that what is most important is to be a Christian, and to advance the Word of Jesus? Isn’t everything else a distraction? These are questions that some of us have heard, sometimes even from our pastors on Sunday morning. How do we respond? I have two responses

FIRST , God has a calling for a lot of people. I believe that God has a calling for me as well. And that calling is to advance the Word of God within the realm of social and political matters in America. Both political parties are veering away from the Word of God. My calling is not simply to advance the Word of God, but to do so as an interfaith movement. Unity is key, and an interfaith movement will create unity not simply of all Christians, but among all Faiths and denominations. Believers of all kinds need to come together and discuss how the values of this Country are to be declared, and then which values shall be laws, and which shall be social ethics “enforced” by the collective beliefs of so many people, and by pressures of social conformity, shame, and stigma. This is something that has to happen. The atomization and individualization of our society has gone way too far.

Christians cannot do it alone, and especially not with the current situation divide in which most White Christians are Republicans, and most African-American and Latino Christians are Democrats. That divide is intentional. It’s been created and stoked by the media and entertainment industries with the specific intent of advancing their social and political agenda. Their agenda advances as people give up on God, and follow American popular culture instead.

Furthermore, Jews, Muslims, Bahai’s, and other Faiths need to be involved, and that will create a movement so overwhelming that the detractors will not be able to shut it down with “Oh look, the Christians are back, and they want to tell us what to do like they did in the 1950’s”. I believe the Welcome Movement is part of God’s plan for America. We don’t make America great simply through economic progress, or negotiating better international deals. There has to be a spiritual component to politics. Ignoring that pressing need to advance a spiritual component to social and political discussions is a mistake. We are not “losing focus on Jesus”.

Christians are quite certain that their spirituality is the most advanced, and their love of God and humanity will shine as a beacon to others. I personally believe this to be true, and I attend a Christian church. I will never deny other’s beliefs or the validity of their prophets on this website. Instead, I challenge Christians to show by example, and to lead by example. Others will follow.

SECOND , our nation is in the ravages of social collapse. The Word of God is under assault in a generic way, and specifically within each political Party, as follows

DEMOCRATS: The Democratic Party is full of Christians, especially among minority groups, but the activists and leaders of the Party are agnostic and atheist leaning. Believers who are Democrats try to overlook this by saying “oh, but the Democrats want to give more money to the poor”, or “yes, but the Republicans are racists”. I address all of these problems in great detail with my reforms. The essential problem with the Democratic Party is that they are hostile to all religion. They want greater separation of church and state, they want to tax churches, and they want to advance Socialism and Radical Feminism as the replacement for the Word of God. These desires are entrenched beyond any possible chance for reform. The ferocious voices that post hateful comments on social media, and that smash storefronts, scream at public hearings, and hold hostile signs at rallies have such total command over the Democratic Party that advancing the Word of God within the Party is utterly impossible. It’s a lost cause.

REPUBLICANS: If anyone believes that the Republicans are the Party of God, they are mistaken. There is no question there are true believers in the Republican Party, and there are millions of them. The Party is slipping from their grasps as the Word of God loses relevance throughout America. Those true believers cannot deny that major economic forces within the Republican Party are pushing the party towards positions that are absolutely hostile to the teachings of Jesus, including:

  1. Neglect of the poor
  2. Hostility towards immigrants,
  3. Exclusion in terms of housing, and
  4. Greed in terms of taxation, wages, and benefits

Do I have the right to challenge these problems, and attempt to advance a populism within the Republican Party?

Does God want people to advance a spiritual agenda among social and political discussions?

Can I do this without losing focus on the Word of Jesus?

The answer to these questions is firmly and absolutely YES. The Republican Party has veered terribly, but it is still possible to advance a spiritual agenda there. And that might only be true for a few more years, as the Party drifts further and further from God. It’s true now, and that is what counts.

I understand that some people will pull up this website with this great sounding name “The Welcome Movement”, and as soon as they see the word Republican, they will shut down the page without even reading a further word. I know this is happening, and I have attempted to counter this problem with the top words on the website, End the Political Hate Game of Left versus Right. We are absolutely about love and unity, and making the Republican Party more moderate and much more welcoming to immigrants and minorities.

This is enough to get some people’s attention that they may read further and appreciate the spiritual intent of this website. For others, they still see the word “Republican” and they immediately shut off the page. There is nothing I can do to counter such ignorance. Those same people aren’t reading this blog post either.

They have already made their minds up about something they haven’t even read. There is no intellectual curiosity, no open-mindedness. If anyone is wondering why this reform movement is being done through the Republican Party instead of the Democratic Party, that is the short answer.

Thank you, and may God bless America and all of humanity.

We are upset that Donald Trump is positioning himself as the great defender of Israel. Trump has done nothing to try to win the Muslim vote, even though most Muslims are social conservatives. Meanwhile, the political support that many Muslims feel for the Democrats is unsustainable, as the core positions of the Left are hostile to our beliefs. Both problems are much more than frustrating. Muslims who are social conservatives must take a stand to state their beliefs. Those who agree with the following 25 conservative points are asked to click on the link below, print it, sign your name to this Declaration, and mail it to the Trump Campaign. Trump needs to be deluged with thousands of these. Each will be opened, because they think it’s a campaign donation. Trump and the Republican establishment need to hear it loud and clear that Muslims are the real conservatives, and that Jews are the Leftist and atheist enemy of the whole world.
